Huzah!  Wave 2 of my custom bases arrived at the door this evening. 

I always I’m pleased with the precision and quality of the printings. Shapeways has done a good job for me.

I was so excited to try out the bases that I glued an old-skool hive tyrant down just because it was handy. I plan to but together one of the newer tyrant models and do a comparison shoot between the new and the old. I already have a strong feeling that the massively oversized hold models will look silly compared to the more accurately modeled custom figure.

All that said, tyranids are constantly evolving which is perfect for mixing and matching different generations of sculpts. The odd mis-scaled piece will look right at home after they have paint.

* I got an notification that the last wave of bases are in route and i should have them by mid next week… :D
