Quick snap of my girl friend trying her hand at paining epic (6mm) scale Tyranids from a few nights ago. There are just too many bugs - I need the help…
With the last order I was able to put the Trygons together for the 10,000 point ‘nid list. Originally I was going to put these guys on round bases since they act like war engines and all of the other WE creatures are on round bases - but because they aren’t really that large it was just a waste of space so I stuck them on the same bases I created for the 'tank’ type bugs.
Very close to texturing bases and painting.
I got new parts today… the final parts I thought I was going to need for my bug army… BUT I made a mistake :(
I didn’t pay close attention when I made these bases for my Hierodule bio-titans because instead of printing a 70mm (diameter) custom round base I printed a 70mm (radius) custom round base; DOH! so now I am the proud owner of 2 extremely large 140mm round pie plates for God only knows what.
On a positive note the strengthening and material saving pattern I put on the back (hexagons) turned out really nicely. Maybe I can design a small skirmish game using 15mm models and use these plates as the game board… :/
Might also work as a mini planetary campaign map for Epic or 40k.
Grrr - let me try this one more time.
Norn Queen ready for some green stuff then paint. Using the new bases from proxy models - good and cheap 60mm alternatives.
A group shot of the 10,000 point swarms bio-titans. 2x Hierophants and 3x Hierodules. This group is only 2100 point and I could probably fit some more but I using the Onachus list and I have to keep a 1:1 independents to synapse.
Big brothers, the hierophants! Do not get too close they DO bite. I think these will look great once painted. i decided to do one with all claws and one with all bio-cannons.
Same dilemma as with the hierodules, I’m wondering if I should try to mount these on bases. If I decide to at 60mm base won’t cut it and it will require something a bit more…
Baby hierodules have been birthed. These are some fun models. The only thing I’m still pondering is if I should mount them on bases or not. The smaller bio-titans will fit on a 60mm base without too much fuss - but the larger Hierophants will be a problem… I need to go back and read the assault rules and from there make a good decision.
Group shot of all of the based ‘tanks’ in an old school GW box.
I love the feel of metal models - Since I’ve been playing with plastic 40k models and resin Forgeworld for so long I’d forgotten the allure of having a pewter force. The models feel like that have substance…
A large swarm of Dactylis which accompany the Nord Queen and Biovore contingent.
I really love the fluid look and nature of these models. Each one is unique and positioned with some variation of arms or body.
It will be fun to check these out on the battle field too.
Here isa photograph the heavy support units for my 3th swarm. This unit has a mix of up close and personal and ranged strike capabilities and is intended to play a flexible multi-role in the army to fill gaps.
Even as I try to become a tyranid player my brain works as an imperial guardsman or marine, ha.
I love the organic and some-what chaotic shapes of tyranid ‘tanks’. Painting these is going to be fun.
