Quick snap of my girl friend trying her hand at paining epic (6mm) scale Tyranids from a few nights ago. There are just too many bugs - I need the help…
I got some new pigments over the weekend after trying out what I had laying round on the first Steel Legion chimera. I liked the results so I decided to go all in and ordered up a set. There are 2 I ordered which I’m waiting for delivery on. In the end I ordered:
- Natural Umber
- Burnt Umber
- Light Yellow Ocre
- Light Slate Grey
- Natural Iron Oxide
- Brown Iron Oxide
I also ordered a couple of bottles of Justin’s Metallic Iron from Secret Weapon Miniatures. Of course those will be used on a different project with big steel tracks. ;)
I managed to get the first of 8 chimeras for the steel legion army ‘tatted up’ and weathered. Here is a before with gloss coat and decals and after with scrapes and mud,
I’m pretty pleased with the results - though my paints chip technique needs some work. Maybe next time I’ll ask James to add in the roughs before I go nuts with the soot, rust and mud.
7 more to go - gonna take a little while. Maybe I’ll alternate with the Valkyries and the Epic Eldar or variety…
Oh, it’s on now! I just got a fresh new container of mud for the steel legion army. I’m going to do some decal work and seal the models and then for the weathering… Looks like it might be a messy weekend
